Are the pandemic protocols putting your panties in a wad?

Hey,

I talk to men every day and I'm getting the sense that this shelter at home sh*t may be starting to get on your nerves.

So today I got dressed and took a hike to make this video for you.

I found a cave to make a point about how you can think about your emergence from this pandemic hibernation period you're in.

Are you going to be a bear or a mountain lion?

(Hint: Mountain Lions don't hibernate!)

The cartoon at the right has nothing at all to do with my point. But if you find this as funny as I do then...well, we get each other.

Here's my point.

We're going to emerge from this period in one of two ways.

#1 - We'll hibernate and hide out like bears... and will emerge in a sleepy stupor wondering what the hell happened. We'll feel groggy, confused and late for supper. It will not feel good.

#2 - We'll continue moving like mountain lions...exploring, hunting and sharpening our tools patiently waiting for the first opportunity to spring into action. We'll feel strong, confident and ready for action. It will feel really, really good.

How Does a Mountain Lion Shelter at Home?

He keeps moving. The more others slow down (the hibernators) the more opportunities he sees just by staying steady.

He doesn't try to "get through it"... because he knows that by "getting into it" is where his power and control are.

He uses the time to reassess his strategy and to acquire the new knowledge and skills he needs to spring into action.

He keeps giving of himself and his gifts to those who need him most.

He seeks the support and wisdom of other mountain lions to help him stay focused so he can succeed.

Questions to help your inner mountain lion:

1. What percentage of your day is currently being used to LEARN something new to increase your confidence and your income producing value?

2. What is the possible "gift" of the shelter at home period for you and your family? How are you using that gift?

3. What is a totally new strategic view you can take about your contributions to your job or business that takes advantage of the new world order?

4. What are you able to give more of to serve others, maintain connection and improve the strength of your relationships both personal and professional?

5. Who are your mentors? What relationships have you developed with people who can help you accelerate your learning and focus your actions?

This is where my mountain lion metaphor gets shakey.

Mountain lions live a solitary life and only meet up for sex (mating).

Yeah...that's not what I'm recommending.

I prefer the phrase "tribe". We must find our tribe. And if we don't have a close knit tribe of fellow lions we will stumble.

Without a solid group of mentors and like-minded men, we're sure to procrastinate, hibernate and makes excuses for standing still.
