Why Men Should Never Make New Year's Resolutions

Hey,

One thing I know about men is this.

The road to feeling like a big p*ssy is paved with good "intentions".

Maybe this is just me but until I'm actually putting ideas into action I can feel like I'm treading water. Running in place. Just plain stuck.

Like last weekend.

I have been "planning" to make a couple of picture frames for some cards we bought in England over two months ago. Yeah. Two months ago.

So I grabbed my honey by the hand and said, "I'm going to show you how to make picture frames." I didn't "plan" it or "think about it" or "promise" to do it.

I just freaking did it.

We went downstairs to my little bitty wood shop and in two hours her treasured pictures of dogs and horses were done. (Those are lap joints. The other one I mitered for you woodworkers.)

She was happy. I was happy.

It reminded me that my road to feeling productive, engaged and happy with myself is paved with inspired action...NOT RESOLUTIONS.

Yes, mindset and intention are important as I coach every day. But if you find yourself feeling like a useless, lazy pile of manure some days I'm betting the solution isn't more thinking.

It's more DOING. Inspired action is the decision to stand up, get dressed and MOVE in a certain direction. It can be a decision to complete a task, keep a promise or commit yourself to something you've never done before.

Today is Christmas tree cutting day so I did my video out in the woods.

So, what are you inspired to do today?

Seriously.

Find something. Anything.

For me, just taking the trash out can put a new spring in my step.

Then think of something more challenging. Something you're uncomfortable with. Something you're avoiding even though you know it's right for you.

Wash the car AND vacuum it. Hang that new ceiling fan or hire someone to do it. Tell somebody you love them....while maintaining eye contact!
