My amazing secret when I’m having a crappy Day

Published: Sun, 04/05/15

Hey,

Would you like to know what I do when I’m feeling like crap?

Do want to know my secret when I’m feeling lazy, uninspired, unfocused and whiny?

Sorry.

I don’t have one.  No secrets here.

That’s why I decided to write this email to you.  I just wanted to reach out and be transparent with you.   (A little pity would hurt either, bro.)

I’ve been coughing all night, my head is pounding, my body aches and I’ve got all the energy of my 20 year old cat – who is on her 23rd hour of sleep right now.

My ambitious to-do list has nothing crossed off today.

What’s my remedy?

Lay on the couch.  Watch some crappy TV.

Eat cereal and leave dishes in the sink for someone else to clean up.

Ask my dog to lay on the couch with me – all day long.

Try to nap when the ibuprofen kicks in.  No luck.

I’m trying to not be a pitiful, needy mess around my lady – pretty sure that was a fail today.  She said, “No, baby. You haven’t been pitiful.”  She’s a horrible liar.  And I noticed she didn’t say I wasn’t needy.

I’m always encouraging you to be strong, get clear, be confident and face your challenges head on with courage.  Take stand.  Stick up for yourself.  Be a man with a plan!

Yeah…blah, blah, blah.

Some days a guy just doesn’t feel like grabbing his nuts and lifting himself up. He just wants to take a break and do NOTHING for a change.

Check out this fun 10-minute video about the “nothing box” in the male brain by Mark Grungor.  You can find his whole 4-hour presentation online pretty easily. (check out the Arabic subtitles. Looks like we're in good company around the world)

Some days a guy isn’t on top of his game or in total control of his emotions.

There are days when our mojo takes a dive and there’s not much we can do (or want to do) about it.

What’s my point?

It’s okay.  It’s normal.  We need to become more comfortable with our down days.

We need to stop beating ourselves up thinking we need to be perfect all the time.

If you’re having a crappy day today, just relax with it.

We’ve got each others back here.

And it won’t last forever.

At least that’s what I’m telling myself today.

Thanks for letting me be a pitiful, needy mess with you.

I appreciate that.

Lots of love,
Steve
