Hey brother,
I'm typing this email to you at 8:00pm in the evening with a runny nose and annoying cough.
I could be watching reruns of American Pickers on The History Channel. That's my normal "go to" couch potato TV indulgence when I'm sick.
So why am I here sending this to you? Because I TOLD somebody I would!
I knew early this morning I wanted to get this newsletter and video done, so I sent a text to my colleague, Dan Dore. I declared I would do this today. And it's not midnight yet, so I'm still good and it feels good that I'm knocking it out.
This is the point I want to make in this newsletter.
Feeling good about ourselves is OUR job. Building confidence in ourselves is OUR responsibility.
So, even when we're down, tired, lazy or sick we get to make a choice.
We can do another 8 hours of American Pickers on the History Channel or make a declaration we're going to do something else.
And the best way to make sure you make a better choice is to make a commitment to someone you respect. Pick someone you know is pulling for you.
Make a new rule for yourself that if you tell someone you're going to do something, then you will do it. No exceptions.
And while you're at it, adopt another new rule for yourself that says, "If I really don't want to do something, then I won't say I'm going to do it!"
